There are. The Sentinel (Throm) has a resurrect spell, it would not have help him it is also level 8.

At some point Dave can get a ritual and even take the warpriest spell if he lives that long. :)Frank Foulishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04870574712195500240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8360323089413089115.post-68580930840533947582011-04-25T08:48:54.472-05:002011-04-25T08:48:54.472-05:00I think this post sums things up nicely.
What I&#...I think this post sums things up nicely.

What I've wanted to say to "Throm" lately is that we're a group. As players and characters, we're on his side and we certainly want him to succeed as much as he himself wants to succeed. Overall he's playing the game great and has enough of the "rules" down to handle himself in the fights. He's come up with plenty of creative ideas, that while not all have played out the way he'd want them to, they added something fun and unique to the situation. In my opinion, the next step for him is learning to play a character and to experience the story.

I think this last weekend, though an unfortunate experience, was necessary and helped him realize that there can be serious consequences for reckless action. Sometimes it can be fun to use that for roleplaying reasons (like our fire mage starting fires in the library,) and sometimes it'll get you killed. It's not like in a video game where you can reset and load the last save. Whatever happens, happens.

I think most of what's left for him to learn will come naturally in time. The best thing for the rest of the party to do to help him along is to live by example and play our characters to the best of our ability and the rest will follow.

As for my own death in the game, if it should ever come, I think I'd be ok with it. I really enjoy the character creation process and the idea of getting the chance to play and create something completely different excites me. Also, since the group now has three other classes with some form of healing, my cleric is feeling less special in that regard. Might be nice to not play a healer anymore and get a little more reckless myself.Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14032681336412004714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8360323089413089115.post-56152693164685482832011-04-25T08:41:51.366-05:002011-04-25T08:41:51.366-05:00I think death in D&D is a really interesting c...I think death in D&D is a really interesting concept. As I said two weeks ago, I was really suprised that this game allows characters to just die, and they can't come back. It's a very different take on the situation than most RPG video games that I've played.

I was honestly pretty concerned about the potential loss of a character through death, but I found that getting another idea for a character that I would be excited to play helped me worry less about possibly saying goodbye to my current character. I wonder if this is true for other people as well or not.

I would still be sad to see my mage die, but I would also be excited to try out a different character that I put together and see how that one does.

CalebAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17131377845385861889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8360323089413089115.post-7630793803221087232011-04-24T23:18:59.367-05:002011-04-24T23:18:59.367-05:00This post is the same in theme from the one I did ...This post is the same in theme from the one I did on Saturday but with more focus on the point.
